February 24th 2025

Norwich UNESCO City of Literature has announced the stellar line-up of writers and thinkers for its City of Literature Weekend as part of the Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2025. Presented by the National Centre for Writing, the Festival will welcome nationally acclaimed speakers who are pushing boundaries and driving change through words, books, and ideas.

Over the weekend of Friday 23 to Sunday 25 May, Patrick Grant will discuss the urgent need to rethink what and how we consume and Sarah Moss will introduce her latest novel, a poignant reflection on migration and new beginnings.

On Saturday 24 May, international best-selling author Val McDermid will deliver the annual Harriet Martineau Lecture. The lecture ecelebrates the legacy of a remarkable, world-changing woman by inviting globally-renowned radical speakers to respond to her life and work.

Together, participants will examine the life-changing power of love and how shifting landscapes influence the ways we communicate with ourselves and each other.
