February 19th 2025

Last week (12-14 February), the UK Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Anna Nsubuga, made an official visit to Wales where she spent a day engaging with representatives from the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape World Heritage Site, and gave a keynote presentation on the work of UNESCO to representatives from the Welsh Assembly.

During her three day visit, the Ambassador also held a day of meetings with key teams within the Welsh Government and external parter organisations such as Wales Arts International. On her visit to the Blaenavon World Heritage Site, the Ambassador made time to have a sit-down discussion with local school children and volunteers at the site.

The Ambassador was joined on her visit by James Bridge, UKNC Chief Executive and Secretary General who also participated in discussions. The 'lunch & learn' session at the Welsh Government also featured a presentation by Professor Matthew Davies, the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Energy Technologies at Swansea University.
