UK National Commission for UNESCO showcases work at the Traditional Meeting of National Commissions in Paris

April 15th 2025

At the start of the month, the UK National Commission for UNESCO joined our counterparts from across the world at the Traditional Meeting of National Commissions on the margins of the 221st UNESCO Board in Paris.

At the two-day meeting, James Bridge, UKNC Chief Executive and Secretary-General (alongside Alicja Jagielska-Burduk, Secretary-General of the Polish National Commission for UNESCO), presented initatives to support MONDIACULT 2025 and encouraged National Commissions to collaborate and work on culture in global terms.

John Carmichael, UKNC Communications and Marketing Manager, presented the work that we have undertaken to develop a new visual identity and website, showcasing best practice and supporting other National Commissions that are also looking to develop their online communications.

The meeting also included a presentation on the UNESCO Draft Programme and Budget for 2026-2029 and the role of National Commissions, by Ms Zazie Schäfer, UNESCO Director of the Bureau of Strategic Planning.
