UNESCO Chair on Refugee Integration through Education, Language and Arts (RIELA) Spring School a sell-out success!

May 16th 2025

This month's 'Spring School' organised UNESCO Chair on Refugee Integration through Education, Language and Arts (RIELA) at the University of Glasgow, led by Professor Alison Phipps, has been a huge success, with three days of workshops, presentations, panel discussions and more on the theme of "May Peace Prevail".

All tickets for this in-person event were snapped up within four hours of being released, and the programme incorporated six 'keynote speakers' including representatives from the University of British Columbia (Canada) and University of Otago (New Zealand).

This year's Spring School focussed on peacebuilding, specifically using arts, languages and education. For 2025, the RIELA Team explored proposals on how to build peace in the minds of people, how to live together peacefully, restoratively and interculturally, how to respond to and counteract current events worldwide that seek to divide societies, and how to ensure that peace prevails, founded on justice.

Whilst this month's in-person Spring School is now over, the RIELA Team is alredy planning an online Spring School on the same "May Peace Prevail" theme from the 27 to 31 October.
